Greetings from the Chairman,
It gives me great pleasure to write our first “Website” news letter and I hope you will find the Club site interesting and useful.
The Club is being affected by changes in social and business trends, many brought about by the decentralisation of the City Centre, but it is our belief that the qualities of tradition and elegance are timeless. We believe that the Club will continue to offer pleasure and enjoyment to all those who seek its many benefits through membership.
The Club, of course, offers daily wining and dining in the form of lunches in the beautiful Mountbatten restaurant with its incomparable view of Durban harbour. But in addition to this are Club events, special evenings, weekend brunches, social occasions, and the three small Club conference rooms, available for use by members or for hire. The Club’s famous Christmas hams are always popular over the festive season.
I also have pleasure in announcing a new form of membership. Social membership, with a fee structure lower than normal membership, is now available to individuals and families. Individual social membership is has a R250 joining fee and R700 subscription per annum; Family membership for R450 and R1250 per family. Families in this case are parents, offspring aged over 18 and their spouses.
Our new Club menu has proved popular, with a wide range of buffet, table d’hôte and a la carte dishes prepared by our in-house chefs, Eat Gourmet. Eat Gourmet are also available for members’ special occasions and outside catering. We have added a another 12 new wines to our wine list – all at very reasonable Club prices – and I look forward to seeing you enjoying the our delicious meals and wines at the Club soon.
Remember, all members may invite up to three guests.
If you are not already a member of the Club, please consider joining. Apart from being a superlative venue for wining, dining, social occasions and meetings, the Club offers a rare opportunity to those who cherish the traditions and history of Durban and its people. In addition to this, full members have the benefits of reciprocal membership in over 120 similar Clubs all over the world.
Best wishes, David Bennett Chairman. |
