Durban Club - Membership

The Main Club Membership categories are :

Membership of Durban Club is open to both Gentlemen and Ladies, of any race, in the under mentioned categories. An Entrance Fee is payable upon application for Membership, and Annual Subscriptions are payable, which vary by membership category.

All enquiries regarding membership should, in the first instance, be directed to the Honorary Secretary of Durban Club. Applications for membership, requiring both a Proposer and a Seconder, both being Club Members of good standing are required, and all such membership applications are considered by the Club Main Committee, in their general monthly meeting. If a suitable proposer and seconder is not available to prospective candidates desiring to apply for membership, interested parties are invited to discuss the matter with the Club Manager, who will be pleased to assist in this regard.





The Club also has various other Classes of Membership, such as Life Members, Senior Members, Ex-Officio Members, Temporary Members, etc, but details of these are not pertinent here.

Full Member

Reciprocity Member

One who resides within a 64km radius of the Club House. Also known, historically, as a “Town” Member

One who is a member, in good standing, of a Club with whom Durban Club has reciprocity, subject to the rules and by-laws of both Clubs

Country Member

Corporate Member

One who resides outside the above radius, and who does not fall into any other membership category

Those who are admitted as such, by special application to the Committee, and within the Club by-laws

Associate Member

Absentee Member

Intended for those who have attained 21 years of age, but are under 35 years of age. There are other classes or types of membership who fall into this category, but this is not pertinent here

Granted to those who are resident outside of South Africa, and who have been granted such special status by the Committee
